Career Veteran of Costa Rica
Richard operated a roofing and general contracting company in Florida before turning his focus on Costa Rica. Twenty years ago Richard built Cabinas Las Olas, the first hotel on the beach in Playa Hermosa. Richard was initially drawn to the Hermosa area by its ultra consistent waves and scenic vistas. Two of his sons, Kyle and Joel, cut their teeth surfing on the powerful beach break in front of Cabina Las Olas. Eventually for Kyle this led to a U.S. Amateur Surfing Championship and a professional career. To help fund his building projects, Richard bought and sold properties, mostly to surfer friends such as Matt Kechele (professional surfer and board shaper).
Loma Del Mar Sufcamp and the Rovercam
Eventually Richard purchased an 80 acre farm in Hermosa a short distance inland, selling off parcels to underwrite his next endeavor: Loma Del Mar surf camp. Along with building the camp, he started the Rovercam.com, a daily surf report website, another pioneering effort. Richard’s son Joel ran the surf camp for several years. Loma Del Mar is currently being transitioned into a private residential community (for more information see Rovercam.com and follow the link for Loma Del Mar). To satisfy an increasing demand for property, Richard focused his search on the up and coming coastal area to the south and found Ranchos Las Lomas. Formerly a cattle farm just outside the town of Parrita, its gentle hills were cleared of trees many years ago, making it ideal for building without destruction of precious rain forest. Richard has been hard at work on infrastructure since settling on the property in April 2006 with roads, water, electricity, pool and rancho nearing completion.
REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL Hooked on Costa Rica
got hooked on Costa Rica after coming to the Loma Del Mar surf camp in 1998. Many visits to Costa Rica later, he began investing, attracted by the good real estate fundamentals and his partner Richard’s successful track record. He was impressed with the quality of Ranchos Las Lomas’ location, its proximity to great beaches and waves and the growing market potential of the central Pacific coast. Ranchos Las Lomas and Loma Del Mar Surf Club are being jointly developed with Richard. Bob also owns another 23 lot project known as the Little Finca. Bob lives in the Philadelphia suburbs, 1-1/2 hours from Brigantine, NJ where he surfs his waveski when the water is warm enough.
Qualified Real Estate Investor
began his career in real estate in 1974 in the Washington, D.C. area where he graduated from American University. He is a professionally designated appraiser certified in six states (from New York to Virginia) and a licensed real estate broker. His clients, mostly multifamily lenders, have engaged his firm for over 1,700 appraisals and market studies since 1981. They rely on his appraisals as a guideline for financing large apartment properties. He has been successfully investing in multifamily properties since 2002, the largest of which is a 200-unit apartment renovation in Wilkes Barre, PA. He is currently working on an 88-unit duplex townhouse renovation project near Atlantic City, NJ.
freddy in costa
Freddy practically grew up at Loma Del Mar, where his mother and other family members have been employed over the years. He learned to surf in his early teens and quickly became able to teach others. He is often featured on rovercam.com and commonly the subject of professional surf photographers. Freddy is glad to accompany our prospective clients in the line-up. He loves to share the best of Costa Rica with others.
Freddy spent a few summers in the States teaching water sports at a camp in North Carolina, and getting training as an EMT. His experience in the States helped him hone his English skills. As he assisted Richard with his various projects, he became intrigued by the business of real estate and completed necessary courses to be certified as a real estate broker. He has shown himself to be quite capable in taking on the challenge of the marketing and sales for Ranchos Las Lomas, combining sincere helpfulness and professionalism in his work. |
